Well Water Testing
The Well Water Testing Program is to assist local residents with getting their well water tested for the presence of bacteria.
To test drinking water for bacteria (total coliform and E.coli), you are required to use a sterile water sample bottle, follow the proper collection procedures to ensure no contamination occurs during the process, and collect the sample the same day it is to be delivered to the lab for analysis.
Sterile water bottles are available from:
- SRRCD office (29 Simard Street, La Broquerie),
- Steinbach Mb. Conservation office (323 Main),
- RM of Ste. Anne office (141 Central Ave., Ste. Anne),
- RM of Hanover office (Hwy #52 west of Steinbach),
- RM of De Salaberry office (466 Sabourin St., St. Pierre-Jolys)
- RM of Tache office (1294 Dawson Road, Lorette)
Samples must be returned before noon to the SRRCD office, RM of Ste. Anne office, RM of Hanover office, RM of De Salaberry office, the Town of Niverville office, or to the RM of Tache office.
The samples must be taken and delivered to one of the four offices listed above prior to 12:00 noon on the testing day.
The Well Water Testing days for 2011 are:
May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12
The lab forwards the water test results directly to the landowner as soon as they are available (within 10 days).
The applicant cost (lab analysis fee) is $8.03 per well water sample.
This year due to flooding, the Province will cover the full cost of all water testing due to flooding until June 30.
