Successes
Since signing a Memorandum of Understanding in January 2002, the SRRCD has established an office in La Broquerie where it has developed policy and procedure to guide it along. The SRRCD has also developed a list of programs available to District residents and has been involved in many special projects and partnerships.
Some of the types of projects the SRRCD has been involved with include:
- Water storage / retention projects,
- Waterway management,
- Sealing abandoned wells,
- Grassed waterways,
- Recreational site enhancements,
- Environmental education to Elementary schools,
- Well water testing,
- Water quality testing in local rivers,
- Watershed assessment studies,
- Drain maintenance partnerships with RMs and the Province,
- Watershed Management Planning.
The greatest success of the SRRCD is its' involvement of new municipal partners, and the improvements in municipal cooperation and relations. The SRRCD began as one RM and now involves the RMs of La Broquerie, Ste. Anne, Hanover, Stuartburn, De Salaberry, Ritchot, Tache, Reynolds, Springfield, Montcalm, the City of Steinbach, Town of Ste. Anne, and the Village of St. Pierre-Jolys.
The SRRCD looks forward to working with its' many partners, focusing its' resources at worthy projects, and building exceptional lines of communication and understanding with its' local watershed residents.
