Seine River Watershed – Integrated Watershed Management
Plan (IWMP)

The SRRCD has been approved as the Water Planning Authority to
begin the process of developing an Integrated Watershed Management
Plan for the Seine River Watershed. We are among the first five
Conservation Districts to begin such a plan.
Manitoba Water Stewardship is the main partner in this initiative.
They, along with other provincial and federal government departments
will provide technical and financial assistance to the plan.
The Watershed Management Planning process will meet the requirements
identified within the Water Protection Act, and will include a State
of the Watershed Report, Watershed Health Report Card, and a Source
Water Protection Strategy. A Watershed Planning Advisory Team (WPAT)
comprised of local stakeholder representatives from rural municipalities,
cities, academic institutions, agricultural organizations and other
groups within the watershed, has been created and is part of the
planning process. The WPAT will assist with some of the tasks identified
within the planning process, mainly to identify issues, challenges,
and opportunities, and is an integral part of the overall success
of the IWMP.
Currently, the WPAT is involved in reviewing the draft plan, with the assistance of the technical sub-group committee.
The membership of this sub-group is comprised of agencies holding
watershed science information. The WPAT will then hold public consultations to get feedback on the draft plan from local residents. Please plan to attend one of these public consultation meetings!!
